# Send with Gmail

Connect personal Gmail or Google Workspace mailboxes to send a small number of personal emails a day. Replies arrive in Gmail as usual, and FounderDB picks them up automatically — no receiving setup needed for Gmail.

Use Gmail for a handful of high-trust emails a day. For volume, use [Amazon SES](https://founderdb.co/docs/sending-ses.md): Gmail mailboxes that send lots of cold email get flagged.

## Connect a mailbox

1. *Outreach → Mail accounts → Sending → Gmail* → **Connect Gmail**.
2. Pick the Google account and allow access. FounderDB asks to **send** email and **read** it (to spot replies and bounces). Your normal FounderDB sign-in is unaffected — this is a separate, outreach-only connection.
3. You're back on *Mail accounts* with the mailbox marked **Sending**. Connecting with Google is the verification — nothing else to do.

Connect as many mailboxes as you like; FounderDB rotates sends across all verified ones.

## Replies

FounderDB checks each connected mailbox every 2 minutes (inbox, spam and sent mail from the last 7 days):

- replies to your outreach are matched to the contact, advance or stop their sequence, and show in *Inbox → To do*;
- emails you send yourself from Gmail to a contact are added to their conversation;
- bounce notices mark the contact as undeliverable.

## Limits and warm-up

A Gmail mailbox starts at **10 emails a day** and adds **5 a day** up to its cap (**50** by default). Sends are spaced 4–18 minutes apart inside your sequence's send window. Google's own limits are far higher, but staying low keeps your mailbox out of spam folders.

## If the connection breaks

If Google revokes access (password change, security review, or you removed FounderDB in your Google account), the mailbox shows **Disconnected** and you get an email. Click **Reconnect**; any sends that failed meanwhile are queued again.

## Import past conversations

**Import conversations** on the mailbox scans its history and adds people you've already emailed as contacts (tagged `imported`) — useful so FounderDB doesn't cold-email someone you already know.
